Development, not Performance Management
In our HR experience, Performance Management is a blunt term, it invokes fear.
How do we perform and thrive, without development and structure that relate to our roles and goals? not very well in our experience.
It is critical businesses provide clarity on the expectations of those contributing to their business.
The recipe is simple, provide structure and transparency around strategy, align goals to strategy, provide space for growth, and reward more than fairly.
But how many of you can validate that this actually happens?
Enter Viva from Microsoft, we love the fact that Viva enables the alignment of individual goals in all shapes and sizes to organisational performance and strategy.
When coupled with a strong change, communications, and HR policy plan, we can then start to see our collective results.
Stronger further is the whole learning and well-being paradigm, it's rare Companies want their people to burn out unless you happen to be employed by Elon Musk. However despite rules, and even laws in some places, people still work more than they should. Getting a consistent message out to people on their time expectations around work and investing in themselves is key. Viva Insights can support this through well-being programs, designed to reduce work-related stress, reflect on self, and praise others. These form part of some of the free offerings, but we would encourage you to dig deeper. Here lies a tool with the power for cultural and transformational change whether through health leadership or cultural and workforce insight:
The boundaries around work life and the expectations around investing in self can now be easily set up (centrally and by individuals):
We are people, but the mind is a complicated organ, and the neuroscience of learning is well-discussed in scientific circles. The mind learns more when not under stress. Supported by the right cultures, and structures, the mind will thrive. This is a fact.
Viva goes beyond the basics of an HRIS solution, and really tackles the embedded experience for development and performance we've yearned for so long.
